Like those we remember today – we owe them a debt of gratitude. But thank you most of all to Sayyeda for sharing such a striking reflection about why this memorial is so needed, particularly now. The powerful but tragic story of Abdallah in West Darfur is a reminder of why it is so vital that we honour the lives of humanitarian workers lost in service.Around the world, far too many people continue to face unimaginable pain, suffering and loss, whether through natural disasters or man-made conflict and famine.
