GENEVA, SWITZERLAND - APRIL 5, 2024: A pro-Palestinian demonstration was held, demanding “a halt to the genocide in Gaza”, in Switzerland's city of Geneva on Friday (April 5).Hundreds of people attended a demonstration held in the square outside the United Nations (UN) office in Geneva, where a broken chair statue symbolizing the fight against armed violence against civilians is located.The demonstration, which began with a minute of silence for those who have lost their lives in Israel's attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023, featured prayers for those living in hardship in Gaza.Demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and banners reading "Freedom for Palestine," "Boycott Israel," and "Stop the Genocide," and chanted slogans in English, Arabic, and French in support of Palestine.Photographs depicting Israel's attacks on Palestinians were also exhibited in the area where the demonstration was held.Raya, a Swiss citizen of Palestinian origin, said that being human was enough to participate in such a demonstration."I do not see what is happening in Gaza as 'war.' There, soldiers are targeting civilians," said Raya, adding that Gazans were unable to access food, water, and healthcare.Kevin, an American protester, said, "I joined the demonstration to support Palestinians because they are facing a genocide unlike anything we have witnessed before. I believe it is time for everyone to act together to stop the massacres against the Palestinian people.
