Mass protests continue after Nepalese government ousted

RUPANDEHI, LUMBINI, NEPAL - SEPT. 9: Protests continued across Nepal on Tuesday, Sept. 9, as demonstrators set fire to government offices, vehicles and residences of senior officials following the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.Protesters torched the homes of Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), and the personal residence of former Prime Minister Oli. They also burned a school owned by Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba.The parliament building and the historic Singha Durbar palace, which houses several ministries, were also set ablaze amid the unrest.The Nepalese army took control on Tuesday night after two days of deadly protests, which left 20 people dead and ousted the elected government of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.The army “is operating all over the country,” SetoPati news outlet reported.Soldiers were deployed to maintain law and order as protesters vandalized public properties, as well as freed prisoners.Earlier, the army chief, Gen.
