Tottenham riots: Riots break out in Tottenham after peaceful protest against shooting of man by armed police; ENGLAND: London: GIR: INT Diane Abbott MP (Labour) interview SOT - Never known a riot where people didn't claim it was outsiders that did it / No excuse for violence / These communities like tinder boxes nowadays / One of problems was Independent Police Complaints people who were not giving the family information, weren't with the family, weren't reassuring the family which caused tremors of worrying concern throughout the community / Surprising that the police didn't know that things would kick off / Seems to be a failure of intelligence / I know because I live close to Tottenham, that feelings were running extremely high in the community / I heard about these riots on Twitter and if I heard about them on Twitter, quite close to when they began, other people did / The fear must be that we could see copycat disturbances / When you have these deaths and the police are involved they really should know by now, you have to keep really close to the family, keep them informed, calm / Need to have better intelligence / People of Tottenham facing devastation / We all have to understand that this could happen in many of our inner city areas / This goes back to original Broadwater Farm riots / I think police community relationships have improved vastly but they are still not good enough / High levels of unemployment / When things to kick off you have thuggish criminal elements / No question that many of these inner city areas feel under pressure /...for all types of reasons to do with cuts in EMA, cuts in youth clubs, coming cuts in jobs and services, these communities feel under pressure / No excuse for violence but inner city communities are under pressure
