ROME, ITALY-NOV14: Rome is undergoing extensive restoration and construction ahead of the 2025 Jubilee Year, which will attract millions of Catholic pilgrims. Major monuments, including the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Fountain of the Four Rivers, are temporarily closed for renovations. The Trevi Fountain, undergoing its first major maintenance in over a decade, has a temporary pool for coin tossing, but some visitors have criticized it as unsightly. The restoration is set to be completed by December 24, 2024. Infrastructure projects are also underway, including the construction of a new metro station at Venice Square, expected to continue until 2034, causing road closures and traffic disruptions. These ongoing works have led to a dip in tourist satisfaction, with some visitors disappointed by the closures. However, many understand the need for preservation. "It’s disappointing, but necessary," said Swedish tourist Joanna.
