US trade rep nominee Tai addresses USMCA partners lag in trade agreement implementation
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden of Oregon says the Trump administration proceeded with the USMCA trade agreement with outstanding issues up in the air, to the present Canada not having come into compliance on dairy requirements and Mexico lagging on implementation of labor laws, Tai responding a top priority for the USMCA was to use tools in negotiation renegotiation of NAFTA, crediting his and others' hard work, its overall enforcement mechanisms improving beyond original NAFTA to include labor enforcement novel not just to the agreement but to trade agreements across the board, the key using USMCA to make it successful to exercise tools so hard-fought in being incorporated.
