Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York says policing reform was not about making an effort or dipping toes into the waters of reform but solving a problem taking the lives of black Americans and if a bill offered by Senate Republicans would not have prevented the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Michael Brown or Eric Garner nor stop future deaths of black Americans at the hands of those meant to protect and serve them it did not represent the change needed and the Republican bill did not rise to the moment as the Justice in Policing Act would.
