American Shoppers Face Inflation Amid Holiday Season
LOS ALAMITOS, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 15: (AUDIO OMITTED) A sign that reads "Douglas Fir" hangs on the side of the tent at The Youth Center Christmas Tree Lot on December 15, 2022 in Los Alamitos, California. Christmas tree prices have raised this season due to an ongoing supply shortage and increased production costs. To keep their trees affordable, The Youth Center only raised their prices by three dollars. They usually sell between 2500 to 3000 trees during the season, many of which have sold as they were left with less than 30 trees by 3 p.m. on Thursday. All their profits go towards programs for children and scholarships. More than half of U.S. adults are having a harder time affording gifts and food for holiday meals as consumer prices remain higher than a year ago, with the prices this November having risen 7.1% when compared to last November.
