Sir John Wolfenden on 'organised vice'; 1957

Sir John Wolfenden answers a question about organised prostitution with relation to the Report of the Committee on Homosexual Offences and Prostitution, also known as the Wolfenden Report, saying, 'So far as our evidence goes, we came to the conclusion that talk about organised vice has been rather exaggerated. There are of course men behind the women, but it is the case, according to the evidence that we've had, that most of those associations are really voluntary ones and are for mutual profit, and, if you like, mutual support'; September 1957.
