PLA Garrison In Hong Kong Completes 24th Routine Rotation

SHENZHEN, CHINA - AUGUST 24: Soldiers of PLA garrison in Hong Kong assemble to get on military vehicles on August 24, 2021 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province of China. The Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Wednesday completed the 22nd rotation of its members since it began garrisoning in Hong Kong in 1997. Approved by the Central Military Commission, the move is a normal annual rotation in line with the Law of the People's Republic of China on Garrisoning the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). At around 23:20 Tuesday night, the army rotation troops passed through the border control in south Shenzhen's Huanggang Port and entered Hong Kong via Lok Ma Chau. The troops arrived at the Gun Club Hill Barracks after midnight, and held a handover ceremony in the early morning at 01:30 Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, the servicemen of PLA Navy and Air Force departed from the military port and airbase in Shenzhen and Guangzhou respectively, and completed the rotation and handover before 14:00.
