Surface of Callisto, animation - HD stock video
Animation of a pan across the surface of Callisto, the second-largest moon of Jupiter. Callisto has one of the oldest and most heavily-cratered surfaces in the Solar System. Its surface geography is dominated by impacts, which have thrown up peaks and ridges, and created low-lying plains. Callisto is the most distant of the large moons from Jupiter, and unlike the other three it is not in an orbital resonance with other moons. This has led to it not experiencing the tidal heating that drives geological processes on the inner moons
