NEW YORK, US - MARCH 12: Türkiye’s Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas walked out of a United Nations meeting on Thursday, March 12, as Israeli Minister for Social Equality and the Advancement of the Status of Women May Golan began to speak.Goktas was attending a session titled "Violence Against Women and Girls" held on the sidelines of the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at UN headquarters in New York.During the meeting at the UN General Assembly hall, the Turkish minister presented her ministry's work and services to representatives of participating countries.Following her address, Goktas left the conference hall when Golan started her speech.Representatives from several other countries were also observed protesting and leaving the hall during the Israeli minister's address.The CSW70, running from March 9-19, is the UN's largest annual gathering dedicated to gender equality and women's rights. This year's priority theme focuses on "Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls," addressing barriers women face in legal systems and measures to close the global justice gap.
