Terrified Kayaker Grateful He Wasn't 'on the Menu' After Being Stalked by Great White Shark

A terrified kayaker documented his ordeal as a great white shark approached him in waters off the coast of Northland, New Zealand. Footage from Matthew John Patrick Wells shows what he said was the 4.5-meter great white shark showing a "curious and terrifying interest" in his kayak. "Whilst kayak fishing for yellow tail kingfish ... I was greeted by a massive great white who followed me curiously for eight minutes," Wells told Storyful. "The shark eventually left me unharmed, but the experience is one I will never forget," he added. "It was a beautifully terrifying animal, an apex predator deserving of our utmost respect ...
