Jeb Hensarling regrets federal deficits while in Congress

Texas Congressman Jeb Hensarling says in debate on a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution that serving in Congress was a great privilege in his life but he left with one regret, the inability to get convinced colleagues of the peril of ignoring the debt trajectory of the nation, that his iPad is awash with reports about the spending trajectory unsustainable, that the picture of national bankruptcy is ugly, he does not believe America would be Greece but by spending money America does not have, it would become a second rate economic power, second-rate military power and second rate moral authority, leaving the next generation a lower standard of living.
