A fully grown Thai red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) rooster confidently helps himself to a container of rice, having clearly mastered the art of village-side scavenging. Though still wild, this handsome opportunist has learned that humans mean food, and he approaches with bold familiarity rather than fear. His fiery red comb, burnished copper-orange back feathers, and glossy black-green tail shimmer like polished metal, giving him the swagger of a bird who knows exactly how good he looks—and exactly where the free lunch is.
