The Chitra Collection – the world’s largest collection of historic teawares and home to the world’s most valuable teapot – to exhibit select pieces for National Tea Day 2018.Designed by Mr Nirmal Sethia the Egoist teapot has 1,658 brilliant cut diamonds, a super fine quality large 6.67 carat ruby on its body that belonged to Mr Sethia’s late wife Chitra Sethia, a natural ruby bead on its lid along with 386 round brilliant cut rubies, a gold trim and a fossil mammoth ivory handle.The teapot has now been gifted to the N Sethia Foundation, which is a UK registered charity, founded by Mr Nirmal Sethia in 1995. The foundation extensively supports medical research, youth activities and disaster relief management. Beneficiary charities and projects include the Prince’s Trust, the Chitra Sethia Centre for Robotics and Minimal Access Surgery at University College London and The Chitra Sethia Autism Centre in Cambridge.The Foundation also owns the world's largest collection of tea accessories - The Chitra Collection - highlight pieces will be on display to the UK public for the first time ever for National Tea. The collection has only been displayed to the public on two previous occasions.
