The Yuanyang Hani Terraces are located in the southern part of Ailao Mountain in Yuanyang County, Red River Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. They are the core area of the Red River Hani Terraces and cover an area of approximately 170,000 mu. The history of these terraces can be traced back to the Sui and Tang dynasties, dating back over 1,400 years. The climate in the Yuanyang terraces region belongs to the subtropical mountainous monsoon climate type. It is mild with abundant rainfall. The mountains are densely forested, providing water for the terraces. Villages are situated within them, and people grow crops such as rice on the terraces. The main scenic areas include Qingkou, Badada, Duoyishu, and Tiger Mouth Terraces. The Yuanyang terraces are built according to the terrain. The unique three-dimensional pattern of forests, water systems, terraces, and villages centered around water is a wonder in the history of world agricultural civilization. The Yuanyang Terraces are renowned worldwide for their magnificent scene that integrates clouds, water, light and terraces. Every spring, before the terraces are filled with water and the rice is sown, tourists from all over the country, including those from foreign countries, flock to witness this wonder. The Yuanyang Terraced Fields are a key national cultural relic protection unit and a World Heritage Site. This video was shot by me every spring from 2013 to 2017. I used a Nikon DSLR camera and Nikon lenses; and through time-lapse photography, I captured the constantly changing scenes of the Yuanyang Terraces from dawn to dusk.
