Keel laying of Turkish naval ship for Pakistan held in Karachi

KARACHI, PAKISTAN - OCTOBER 25: The third Turkish anti-submarine class ship for Pakistan was sledged on Sunday (Oct. 25) in Karachi. The ceremony was attended by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Pakistani Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal, and Pakistani Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi. The Turkish ministry said in a statement on Saturday that constructions of two corvettes in Turkey and two in Pakistan will continue as part of Turkeys national warship MILGEM project. Despite the novel coronavirus, the first ship is slated to be delivered to Pakistan in 2023 in line with its schedule. While addressing the ceremony, Akar termed keel laying of PN MILGEM Corvette, as a historic event for the Ministry of Defence Production. I hope that our ships which undertake important tasks in the defense of your country and our brother country will be beneficial to the Pakistan Armed Forces and that they will contribute to peace and stability in the region and in the World, said Akar. Hulusi Akar also reiterated that Turkey stands in solidarity with Pakistans principle stance on the Kashmir issue. The Turkish minister stressed that the humanitarian tragedies in the Islamic geography are ignored. A hypocritical attitude has been displayed regarding their human rights. During such a delicate time where we are surrounded by multiple crisis areas there is tremendous responsibility placed on our shoulders by our history and on our civilization, he said noting that Pakistan and Turkey did not ignore the human tragedies in the regions and around the World. All that is happening shows that the Islamic World to be strong and together and to be one.
