Thousands in Amsterdam march against Gaza war, attacks on journalists

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - AUGUST 16: Thousands of people marched in Amsterdam on Saturday in a demonstration in support of Palestinians, calling for an end to the war in Gaza and attacks on journalists.The march passed through Dam Square and the city center, with some protesters detained by police.Late Sunday, Al Jazeera Arabic’s Gaza correspondents Anas al-Sharif, Mohamed Qraiqea, and three others were killed in an Israeli strike targeting a journalists’ tent near the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.Israel has killed nearly 61,900 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine.Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
