Great Snakes! Tiger Snake Feasts on Bird High Up a Tree in Tasmania

A tiger snake was spotted feasting on a bird from a tree branch in a Tasmanian backyard on January 10. This footage, shot by Hobart resident Robert Reibel, shows the bird locked in the serpent's jaws as the snake hangs from a conifer tree. Reibel's son Adam told Storyful that tiger snakes are a common sight around the suburbs of Hobart, but it was a surprise nonetheless, particularly for his brother who was enjoying a paddle in the pool when he heard the bird struggling. "Sam heard the birds, jumped out of the pool and went to investigate only to discover the snake in a tree," Adam said, adding that it was "something you don't often see or expect to see."
