Turkish, Portuguese FMs discuss latest developments and raid on US Capitol

LISBON, PORTUGAL - JANUARY 07: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met on Thursday, Jan. 7, his Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva in capital Lisbon.The two ministers held a joint news conference after discussing bilateral relations, Turkey-EU relations, as well as current regional and international issues.They also expressed concern over pro-President Donald Trump rioters who stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday."Was I surprised to see what happened in Washington yesterday? No. Because we have been observing the signals of what happened yesterday since the elections. But we were really concerned," said Cavusoglu, adding:"Yesterday was a source of concern not only for us but for Europe and for the entire world. At the end, common sense will prevail. We are happy to see that there will hopefully be a peaceful and smooth transition of power on 20th of January."Hundreds of pro-Trump protestors stormed the Capitol building and ensuing violence resulted in the deaths of four people.More than 50 people have been arrested, and dozens of injuries were reported.
