CHERNIHIV, UKRAINE - MAY 20: Ukrainians in Chernihiv have been facing food shortages as Russia's war on the country continue for nearly three months.Anadolu Agency Video News (AAVN) camera captured the empty shelves in a supermarket on Friday (May 20) in the city.Although the supermarkets, which were closed shortly after the start of the war, has opened their doors these days, the empty shelves prevent the public from finding foodstuff. While the prices of the products in the grocery stores have doubled compared to the pre-war period, the supermarket chains cannot provide new products due to the disruptions in supply.Stating that the prices are high in the city, one of the residents Natalia Petrovnaya, said "For example, a kilo of cucumbers is 100 hryvnia. Who will buy them? It seems that the prices are high even for high income people. A kilo of Radishes is 75 hryvnia. I can buy only 150 grams."“I can't buy any meat. I have a pack of margarine, it's from pre-war times. I wanted to bake a cake, but I couldn't use my oven up because the electricity was out. There wasn't even gas, now they gave gas, so I'm happy,” she said.“The products are definitely hard to find. There are other shops, but deliveries are difficult, everything is difficult to find. Prices have risen, this is a very difficult situation. We receive humanitarian aid, we try to survive somehow," Alexei Koretsky, another resident in the city added. At least 3,881 people have been killed and 4,278 injured during the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to UN estimates.
