Egypt's Wadi al-Hitan: Valley of Whales

Valley contains invaluable fossil remains of whales. adi al-Hitan was first discovered by scientists in 1903 and since then, 10 fossilised whales have been found in the marine fossil ‘graveyard’ in Fayoum. Basilosaurus, meaning lizard king, lived between 40 and 34 million years ago and was thought to be a reptile when it was first found.
