‘Sunrise Red’ Winter Olympics Outfits Designed to Get Japanese Athletes’ Mojo Rising
Video footage taken in Tokyo on Nov. 1 shows a group of Japanese athletes modelling the vibrant “sunrise red” outerwear the Japanese contingent will don at the opening ceremonies and medal-awarding ceremonies for the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics set in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The hard-to-miss color wear was produced by sportswear firm ASICS Corp. to “show Japanese pride” and heat up the athletes’ competitive spirit. Ski jumper Noriaki Kasai, 45, who will set a Japanese record at Pyeongchang with his eighth Olympic appearance, stood among the group and said the outfit was the most brilliant among hundreds he has sported during his long career.
