Sea turtles still appear Kochi Prefecture cape where famed monk Kukai called

Video footage taken on July 7 in Tosashimizu, Kochi Prefecture, shows a green sea turtle swimming in the cobalt blue waters below Cape Ashizurimisaki, near the southernmost tip of Shikoku island. The waters of the area are a well-known feeding spot for the marine animals and up to 20 of the turtles were spotted within 30 minutes on the day--an infrequent occurrence according to a local tour volunteer. Local lore has it that seas turtles appeared at the spot when called by the famed monk Kukai (774-835) during his wanderings.
