Hello Kitty-themed Bullet Train The New Cat’s Meow in Western Japan
Video footage taken on June 25 shows the interior and exterior of the new Hello Kitty-themed Shinkansen bullet train slated to start carrying fans of the Sanrio character at the end of June. Operated by West Japan Railway Co., the modified 500-series Kodama bullet train will comprise eight carriages, with the first serving as an exhibition and shop space for regional specialties in western Japan. The train filled with Hello Kitty imagery, some of which might be cleverly hidden for passengers to discover, will begin making a round trip between Shin-Osaka Station and Hakata Station on June 30. The video footage was taken by The Asahi Shimbun.
