Napoleonic Battle of Borodino recreated as special military operation continues

Video footage taken on May 29 near Moscow shows reenactors in military garb restaging the Battle of Borodino of Sept. 7, 1812, a costly victory for Napoleon Bonaparte on his march on the Russian capital. About 300 participants playing the role of Russian and French soldiers joined in on the faux battle, along with one participant playing a French field surgeon with his period horse-drawn ambulance. Some spectators brought children to the event to let them experience the sound and the fury, as well as to instill a sense of patriotism. It is estimated that the battle claimed about 37,000 in total from both sides. (The Asahi Shimbun)
