A videographer has captured a supermoon and micromoon on separate dates, highlighting the difference in size of the celestial events. Videos from Barry Stevenson show a supermoon on August 30, 2023 and a micromoon on February 24, 2024. February's full moon is known as the snow moon but is classified as a micromoon or minimoon, according to https://www.space.com/35627-february-full-moon.html space.com . The micromoon occurs when the full moon is at https://moon.nasa.gov/glossary/ apogee or its farthest point from the earth, making it appear smaller in the sky. A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to earth in its elliptical orbit, a point known as perigee, according to https://science.nasa.gov/moon/supermoons/ NASA . "This side-by-side comparison shows the difference in size of the micromoon Saturday night compared to the most recent supermoon that occurred August 30, 2023. Both moons were filmed with the same 700mm lens, with the same settings, from the same location in the mountains of Colorado.
