VENICE, ITALY - MAY 5: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Visitors explore the British Pavilion at Giardini at the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia during the press preview on May 5, 2026 in Venice, Italy. Curated by Ese Onojeruo and commissioned by the British Council, the exhibition Predicting History: Testing Translation presents a major solo show of new work by Lubaina Himid CBE RA, a new series of large, multi-panel paintings in saturated colour enhanced by a soundscape created in collaboration with artist Magda Stawarska. Himid is the third Black artist in a row to represent the UK, following Sonia Boyce in 2022 and John Akomfrah in 2024. La Biennale di Venezia, titled In Minor Keys and conceived by the late curator Koyo Kouoh, runs from May 9 to November 22, 2026, at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and venues throughout Venice.
