VOICED: Vladimir Putin today claimed victory in the strategic port of Mariupol.But in a sign perhaps of a change in strategy, the Russian President said his forces would not storm the steelworks in the city where Ukrainian soldiers are holding out. Rather the Russians will lay siege. There's been increased fighting in the south and east of Ukraine over last 24 hours. One of those cities is - as we've been hearing - Mariupol - vital to Ukraine’s economy - and capturing it would help create a land bridge between Russia and Crimea. Russia now controls almost all of the city -- with the only counter-attacks taking place near the Azovstal steelworks. The city of Zaporizhzhia is where many of those fleeing Mariupol aim to reach in their search for safety. But the route out is not straight-forward. The Russian occupied town of Vasylivka is where evacuees switched from Russian buses to Ukrainian ones before continuing their journey onto Zaporizhzhia.city.
