Volga Delta, animated satellite image - HD stock video

Animated satellite image of the Volga Delta as the river meets the Caspian Sea (lower right). The Caspian Sea has no outflowing rivers and loses water only by evaporation. It is fed by several rivers including the Volga. Fertiliser runoff from agricultural land has resulted in eutrophication (nutrient enrichment) of the sea's water, which in turn has led to algal growth (bright green swirls). Image taken on 16 September 2004 at 09:45 GMT by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA's Aqua satellite
