Tim Conway: I was just crying, and screaming, and yelling. As a matter of fact my mother had a great deal of trouble with me in pregnancy, and then had a great deal of trouble with me until I was, I guess, 68. When I was first born I had a lot of cholic and everything so I didn’t get baptized until I was about 6 or 7 months old. Most kids are baptized after a couple of weeks, boom throw water, they’re pretty good about it. At 6 months I was a little bit larger than normal and there’s a little shelf that they put the child on and then the priest walks around and they all hold around a kind of scarf and they’re all praying. Since I was so active I managed to roll off this platform while they were walking around praying and they didn’t notice that. So they all turned and my father said, “He has risen!” and the priest says, “No, he has fallen.” So they went, “Dave, do you see anything?” and then they found me of course and named me, Betty, which was unusual at the time and I said that’s not going to work. My real name is “Toma”, my mother’s Romanian name and that was eventually changed to Thomas. And now Steve Allen, when I came out here you couldn’t have...Tom Conway was already out here, he was an actor, Tord Saunders’ brother so I had to change it to, Steve said, “Why don’t you just dot the ‘o’?” So I dotted the ‘o’ and became Tim.
