Tim Commerford on Seeking Chris Cornell to Join Audioslave

Tim Commerford: We were in search of a singer, we had a singer in our old band in Rage, the three of us and he decided to pursue a solo career and we were lucky enough to have a producer at the time, Rick Rubin, who sort of had an idea and sat us down one day and played us a Soundgarden tune and we talked about the possibility of jamming with Chris Cornell and it wasn’t a week after that that we got together and we wrote a song, we wrote “Light My Way”, that’s on our first record, and that’s a great song and we’ve continued that work ethic ever since.
