James Van Der Beek Explains the Shift From Dawson’s Creek to Film Sets

Interviewer: What's the big difference for you between film and television? Do you have a preference? James Van Der Beek: Well television you kinda have to be a well-oiled machine. You know, you're shooting eight pages a day and you gotta you gotta turn out an episode every seven shooting days. And I think consistency is often kind of the key. Whereas film, you're discovering something just about every day. And you're really trying to do something as different as you can each day. And you have the time to explore different avenues, you know, on a film set. Interviewer: And you're also exploring a lot of different actors, so it's like a different set of people. James Van Der Beek: Absolutely. Different set of people, different different characters, different director. Really keeps you on your toes.
