I prefer to say that they are frustrated. I think it has a little more charm. (Q: What sort of audience were they - were they appreciative audiences?). Oh good Lord, no. They never laugh they never applauded - I think they were so frightened in the old days of being discovered in there - the whole thing was far too shameful. They crept in under cover, and they rushed out again. I think if they applauded at all, even laughed, they thought tat somebody else might notice them. You know, this terrible old gag about finding your father sitting down there or something. So they rushed out again, but some of them stayed a lot longer than just a few minutes or a few hours, didn't they?). Oh yes, they were the odd exception. One night about a quarter-to-moe a chappie was being asked to leave by my house manager, and he said, "I don't know what's the matter with you, I paid my money when I came in here at twelve o'clock" and it was then a quarter-to-nine at night. You must give them a medal for endurance, let's face it. (Q: How naked are your girls here by comparison with Shoho clubs?). Not naked at all - practically dressed for the vicarage compared with a Soho strip club. (Q: These are the people that have taken your trade are they - your audiences?). Yes, yes. That is right.
