Striking doctor says Streeting's comments about BMA were 'offensive'
Year 3 academic foundation doctor Fareed Al-Qusous, 26, said Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s comments about the BMA being a “cartel” were “offensive”.“It’s unfortunate that he’s resorted to these offensive terms,” the doctor said outside Bristol Royal Infirmary.“We have a strong mandate from doctors, a democratic union, with over 30,000-plus doctors voting yes for strike action.“We are just representing our members, our doctors who are frustrated, who are worried that they’re not valued properly.“I know close friends of mine, one has gone to Canada, the other one has gone to America after training here in the UK, and another has gone to Australia, who don’t feel valued.“I still think we have a chance and I can see a way through this.“Unfortunately, if this doesn’t get resolved, it’s something I’m willing to consider myself.”
