NIEMCZA, POLAND - MARCH 25, 2024:A 200-year-old beech tree has been named the "European Tree of the Year 2024" receiving 39,158 votes in an online poll.Footage shows the tree at the University of Wroclaw's Botanical Garden in Niemcza, Poland.“Heart of the Garden”, the tree's name, reflects the role it plays in the park, with almost all paths and alleyways leading to it.It is the third year in a row that Poland has won the award.In the online poll to elect the "European Tree of the Year", France’s "Weeping Beech of Bayeux" came second.An honorable third place went to the thousand-year-old Olive Tree of Luras from Sardinia, Italy.The European Tree of the Year contest originated in 2011.
