4-year-old dies of severe malnutrition amid Israeli blockade in Gaza
GAZA, PALESTINE - MAY 24, 2025: A 4-year-old Palestinian child has died from severe malnutrition amid the ongoing Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip.
The deceased child Mustafa Mohammed Yassin, lost his fight for life due to medical complications caused by malnutrition.
Israel's ongoing strict blockade on the Palestinian enclave since March 2 has led to a rise in cases of acute malnutrition, particularly among children, and has resulted in multiple deaths.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal warned that if the blockade is not lifted and food aid is not allowed into the Gaza Strip, we will see many more children die and join Muhammad Yasin, who died hungry in Gaza.
Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 53,900 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
