These enclose the organelles, including the nucleus (yellow), a mitochondrion (with a black inner membrane) and a chloroplast (containing stacks of green discs). In addition to these are shown the large permanent vacuole (grey), golgi apparatus (dark blue-grey), and the rough (orange) and smooth (red) endoplasmic reticulum (ER).
